 In the 12th century, an urban life developed around the Saint Volusien abbey (849) and the castle built before the year 1000.  Gaston Fébus is the last to have lived in the castle.
 
 The grain hall , dating from 1870, is in the style of the halls of  Victor Baltard.
 
 Station classified in the Ariège collection of the Great Tourist Sites of Midi-Pyrénées, Foix is a recognized tourist town.
