The citadel of Port-Louis was built from 1591 by the Spaniards, under the orders of Cristobal de Rojas. It is located on a rocky point at the entrance to the harbor of Lorient.
Formerly, the citadel was used to defend the harbor. The soldiers left in 2007. Today, she is assigned to the surveillance of maritime traffic.
